Papers : of John Cowdery Taylor and Harry Baylor Taylor, 1761-1913 (bulk 1868-1913).

The collection contains some family correspondence of John Taylor in which a visit to Jefferson Davis in 1868, and a traveling company's Shakespeare performance at the University of Virginia in 1907 are mentioned. In his diary he describes a European tour and medical treatments for a throat and lung ailment. Extracts, 1906, from the letters of Harry B. Taylor describe the life of a medical missionary in Anking, China and mention the Boxer Rebellion. Of interest are two letters, 1761, from Charles Carroll to his son Charles Carroll giving advice on the study of law and briefly mentioning politics in Maryland. Copies of several Confederate military dispatches and orders to and from John Clifford Pemberton about the siege of Vicksburg are included. The remainder of the collection consists chiefly of clippings and cancelled checks. There is also a tintype, n.d., of Nina Taylor Loyal.
